Dandridge real estate, lakefront property, and land for sale
Dandridge, TN is one of Tennessee's oldest towns, dating back into the 1700's. The historic nature of Dandridge is evident in the downtown historic district with its quaint antique stores and shops. The area is convenient to Interstate 40 and located in Jefferson County, TN. The highlight of Dandridge is Douglas Lake along with the picturesque downtown area.
The lake, controlled by the TVA, consists of over 30,000 acres at full pool and over 550 miles of shoreline. The lake was constructed in 1943 for the purpose of flood control and hydro power. The lake encompasses four counties - Sevier, Jefferson, Cocke, and Hamblen Counties. The majority of lake frontage is privately owned, while there are some parcels owned by the TVA with boat launches in addition to the privately owned boat launches. The lake is rated one of the top 5 crappie fishing lakes in the nation and among the top ten for largemouth bass!
The North side of the lake, looking South over the lake typically includes some sweeping vistas of the Smoky Mountains and other ranges in the area. The Southern portion of the lake is comprised primarily of coves near the Sevier/Jefferson county border. Among these sections include the "Flat Creek" area of Sevier County.

Properties located on the main channel are in much higher demand and often bring a hefty price tag. With the levels of the lake fluctuating with the TVA raising and lowering the level of the dam, the consistency of main channel on Douglas Lake is highly desired.
