Cosby TN is an area away from the hustle and bustle of Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge, but a convenient 30 to 40 minutes away.. Cosby's location is also enhanced by its close proximity to Interstate 40 and Newport.
The nature and wilderness in Cosby is among the most spectacular outside the Smoky Mountains National Park.. Cosby offers prime trout fishing on Cosby Creek (some native brook trout can be caught on the creek) and spectacular views from the high elevation. Many of the views from Cosby are unobstructed mountain vistas into the National Park. Cosby has its own access into the National Park. From this location one can hike, camp, fish, and many other activities. I have seen many turkey in the Cosby portion of the National Park and you stand a chance to see a bear as well.
The real estate in Cosby is certainly on the rise. In the past acreage could be purchased for as little as $1,000 an acre. Now $10,000 per acre is more of the norm for a decent size parcel. Land in Cosby can be deep in the holler, high on the mountain offering spectacular views, sitting along a babbling brook, or relatively flat pasture land near the main roads. There is quite a variety of land available in Cosby. Overnight cabin rentals in Cosby make up a significant segment of the market, but single family residences are still predominant.
There are numerous new developments popping up in Cosby. Most notable is the new Maranatha Resort. The upscale resort is located on 130 acres in Cosby adjacent to the Smoky Mountains National Park. The resort consists of rental and investment cabins ranging from $399,000 to over $700,000.
The views from many parcels of land and cabins in the Cosby area are very good. Parcels are typically wooded, but there is some cleared land available. The majority of cabins range from around $150,000 to $250,000. Some luxury cabins are available at a higher cost.
